Woodville

The suburb of Woodville is located about 8km from the center of Adelaide. The suburb is rather well know around Adelaide, not the least due to the popularity of the football club Woodville / West Torrens, but also because it was one of the very first suburbs settled in the area.
Traditionally is was a dairy farming settlement and only had around 30 houses at the beginning of the 19th century. However by the mide 1950’s is was a thriving suburb and the nearby suburb of Cheltenham opened the General Motors Holden plant. After the Vietnam war the population also grew with Vietnam refugees.
These days the thriving suburb is is a mixture of families and businesses. Close by suburbs include Woodville South, Woodville Gardens, and Woodville Park.
